Bilateral Defence Consultations with the State of Israel
In Department for International Military Cooperation, in the framework of holding regular bilateral defence consultations, a meeting was held between the Head of Department for International Military Cooperation, Navy Captain Milan Konjikovac and the Director of Division for Europe of the Bureau for Defence Policy and Security of the Ministry of Defence of the State of Israel, Mr Dimitri Dima Golub.
The interlocutors reconsidered the positions on politico-security situation in the region and world, with a particular stress being placed on the migrant crisis. The analysis of defence cooperation developed so far was completed and the common interest in enhancing and intensifying bilateral defence cooperation was confirmed. They underlined the importance of high level visits for determining guidelines for the future collaboration.
Navy Captain Konjikovac informed his interlocutor about the achieved results in defence system reforms, and about the activities of the Ministry of Defence and Serbian Armed Forces in the process of accession to the European Union, the cooperation in the framework of the Partnership for Peace Programme, and about the engagement in multinational operations. He communicated the readiness of the Ministry of Defence to develop with the Israeli side not only military economic cooperation, but the cooperation in the fields of military education, military medicine and all other areas of common interest including military-to-military cooperation.
Mr Golub pointed out the orientation of the Ministry of Defence of the State of Israel towards intensifing defence cooperation with the Republic of Serbia, particularly military economic and military-to-military cooperation, having in mind the existing potential of the two countries to collaborate in the said areas.
At the end of the talks, the two sides harmonised and signed the Programme for Bilateral Defence Cooperation for the year 2017. During the visit, the Israeli delegation had separate talks with the representatives of the Sector for Material Resources and PC “Jugoimport SDPR”.
