Analysis of securing the national border held in Niš
Today, at the Military Club in Niš, analysis of the engagement of forces of the Serbian Armed Forces and the Ministry of Interior was held concerning the execution of common tasks for protecting the security of the part of the state border with the Republic of Bulgaria, Macedonia and Montenegro.
The purpose of the analysis was to examine and evaluate the organization, condition and efficiency of the engagement of forces of the Serbian Armed Forces and the Ministry of Interior on the execution of joint tasks in protecting the security of the part of the state border of the Republic Serbia with the Republic of Bulgaria, Macedonia and Montenegro.
Addressing the audience, Chief of the Serbian Armed Forces Genera Staff, General Ljubiša Diković, said that he was satisfied with the engagement of the Joint Forces that managed to secure the state border and protect national interests without force, without obstacles and with humane and human behaviour.
"Our struggle must be directed principally to fighting against those who organize the smuggling of migrants; because no one would dare to cross the border illegally if all had not been well organized in advance. If we win them, we will better secure the state border" – General Diković said. He added that the achievement of this goal requires cooperation, starting from the intelligence and security structures to all the other state bodies.
Diković paid tribute to all members of the Serbian Armed Forces and the Ministry of Interior for their exceptional commitment and successful execution of tasks: - "I am particularly proud of the fact that among the army and the police members there are no individuals that were involved in smuggling. This shows that even in severe weather, but also the material conditions, our soldiers and policemen have preserved exquisite moral and human values."
The conclusions of the analysis stated that an adequate state response to migrant crisis involves cooperation of all state structures. The importance of increasing the efficiency of employment of the available assets and resources in order to reduce the costs was emphasized.
What was emphasized as a special priority this year was improving protection of people, improvement of conditions and the procurement of new surveillance and optoelectronic means in order to secure the state border.
Analysis of the work of the Joint Forces was opened by Lieutenant General Milosav Simović, Army Commander, and it was attended by Major General Želimir Glišović, the first Joint Forces Commander, Brigadier General Dejan Janković, the current Commander, Slobodan Malešić, Assistant Police Director, Brigadier General Petar Cvetković, Director of the Military Security Agency, Police Colonel Raco Gojaković, Assistant Chief of the Police Department, Nebojša Purić, Assistant Chief of the Border Police Department, representatives of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces, Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Labour, Employment, Veterans and Social Affairs and the Commissariat for Refugees and Migration.
