Annual analysis of the Defence Policy Sector
The annual analysis of the working plan of the Defence Policy Sector in 2016 has been held today in the Ministry of Defence. Besides the heads of the organizational units of the Defence Policy Sector, who have presented the results of the work of this Sector, the analysis was attended by the representatives of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff and organizational units of the Ministry of Defence.
Acting Assistant Minister for Defence Policy Major General Sladjan Djordjevic has defined as the key goals and tasks of the Defence Policy Sector in 2017 the innovation and development of drafts of the primary strategic documents – the National Security and Defence Strategy, the Defence White Paper and the Long-term plan for the development of the defence system of the Republic of Serbia, the completion of organizational changes, the establishment of efficient and effective organization and business process management of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces.
At the meeting it was stressed that in 2017 further improvement and development of the international military cooperation in support of the main foreign policy goals of Serbia would continue by strengthening relations with strategic partners - EU member states, the Russian Federation, the USA and the People’s Republic of China, the Western Balkans and Southeastern European countries, as well as within the Partnership for Peace Programme and participation in the UN and EU multinational operations.
In 2017 the Defence Policy Sector will continue to coordinate tasks of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces in the process of the accession of the Republic of Serbia to the EU and the work on increasing the capacities of the Ministry of Defence by conducting the projects funded from the financial resources outside the budget.
