Books as a gift on St Sava’s Day
On the occasion of the school feast day, Saint Sava’s Day, at the proposal of the Defence Minister Zoran Djordjevic, book packages have been handed over today as a gift to the school libraries in the High School in Sabac, the Technical School “15th May” in Prokuplje, the High School “Bora Stankovic” in Vranje and the High School in Pirot.
The State Secretary at the Ministry of Defence Nenad Neric has handed over the donation symbolically consisting of 101 books published by the Media Centre Odbrana to the High School in Sabac on the occasion of the school feast day Saint Sava and anniversary of 180 years of existence of this high school institution.
Congratulating all students on their holiday, the State Secretary Neric reminded of famous people from the Serbian history, who were also the students of this High School and had a special effect not only on that school, but the total Serbian nation, as well.
“It is the honour to hand over to the High School in Sabac 101 books published by the Media Centre Odbrana, the central publisher of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces. I am convinced that they will bring new knowledge to the students of this High School, and knowledge is the most powerful weapons of the modern age”, the State Secretary Neric said, expressing the hope that in this generation of graduates there will be boys and girls who will continue their education at some of the high education military institutions.
Expressing gratitude for the fact that the High School in Sabac has been chosen as one of the schools, whose library will be enriched by this donation, the Director Mirjana Isakovic emphasized that the library of this High School has existed since 1858, and that the High School in Sabac is one of the four oldest ones in Serbia.
On the occasion of Saint Sava’s Day, the books have been handed over by the Commander of the 3rd Army Brigade Colonel Predrag Grbic to the High School in Pirot, the Commander of the 4th Army Brigade Colonel Slobodan Stopa to the High School “Bora Stankovic” in Vranje and the Commander of the 310th engineering battalion Lieutenant Colonel Dragan Milenkov to the Technical School “15th May” in Prokuplje.
