Admission of another 500 professional soldiers

After consultation with the Prime Minister, the Defence Minister Zoran Djordjevic has started the procedure to admit another 500 professional soldiers.

It is the direct admission of soldiers from the records of the regional centres of the Ministry of Defence. Thus, the potential candidates are all citizens of the Republic of Serbia who have completed a voluntary military service with arms and are younger than 30 years of age. This will also be an opportunity for employment of the new generations of boys and girls on a six-month-long voluntary military service.

The novelty is that in the forthcoming period, after the expiry of contract or staff outflow on any grounds, the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed forces will immediately employ new professional soldiers according to accelerated procedure.

Submission of application, as well as the initial selection of interested candidates, will be organized in barracks whose locations and exact date of application will be announced later.

The best candidates will conclude a contract of employment for a limited period of time and be admitted to a professional military service for a period of six months with the possibility of extending the contract of employment for a period of three years and the renewal of the contract up to age of 40.

We recall that at the end of October the initiative was taken for admission of 300 professional soldiers from the ranks of ones who have completed a voluntary military service, including more than 200 of them who are already in the ranks of the Serbian Armed Forces.

Since December 2016 a new model of a six-month-long voluntary military service with arms has been established. The goal is to improve operational and functional capabilities of the Serbian Armed Forces by additional training of soldiers, to unburden professional soldiers who will improve more the acquired knowledge and skills, as well as to strengthen the reserve element. One of the benefits provided for soldiers are greater allowances in the last three months of the military service.
