The Fifth Session of the Serbian-Algerian Committee for Cooperation
The delegation of the Ministry of Defence led by the Rector of the University of Defence Major General Mladen Vuruna, PhD, stayed from 10th until 13th January in Algeria on the occasion of the Fifth session of the Mixed Committee for defence cooperation.
During the plenary session and meetings of the subcommittees for military-to-military, military-economic, military-medical and military-educational cooperation, the joint activities in 2016 were analyzed and the participants defined the concrete proposals and measures that should be undertaken by both sides in order to enable further improvement and continuation of the strategic defence cooperation. The Memorandum of Understanding on defence cooperation between two countries and the 2017 Bilateral Military Cooperation Programme with Algeria have been signed.
The sides have agreed and signed a draft Agreement on military industry, research and defence development cooperation and Agreement on military geography cooperation. The provisional Agreement on education of the members of the Algerian Ministry of Defence in Serbian military educational institutions has been signed, which will enable the continuation of education and admission of new Algerian personnel to education in our country.Signing the abovementioned documents represents a significant breakthrough in the development of the strategic defence cooperation between two countries.
The Fifth session of the Mixed Committee was conducted on the basis of the Agreement on defence cooperation between Serbian and Algerian Governments, Rules of Procedure of the Mixed Committee responsible for monitoring defence cooperation and the 2016 Bilateral Military Cooperation Programme.
The representatives of the public company “Yugoimport SDPR” were the part of the delegation of the Ministry of Defence.
