Minister of Defence meets Ambassador of the Russian Federation
Defence Minister Zoran Djordjevic met with Russian Ambassador to Belgrade Alexander Chepurin.
On the occasion of the end of the calendar year, the interlocutors summarized the results achieved so far. They agreed that there was continuity of substantial cooperation in the field of defence, which fully reflected the strategic partnership and the achieved high level of general and political relations between the two friendly countries.
During the discussion, it was concluded that the recent visit of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, to the Russian Federation, on the occasion of the upcoming delivery of six MiG-29 aircraft, was the crown of many years of building meaningful relations and yet another confirmation that the intensification of bilateral military cooperation was going to the right direction.
Minister Djordjevic thanked for the support that the Russian side provided to our foreign policy priorities, emphasizing that nobody can deny our military neutrality and a balanced and proactive foreign policy that has been conducted despite the many current challenges.
Both sides expressed satisfaction with the intensification of the exercise activities that contributed to the increase of functional and operational capabilities of the Serbian Armed Forces, as well as the continued substantive military-educational and military-technical cooperation.
At the end of the conversation, the interlocutors extended best wishes for the upcoming New Year and Christmas holidays.
