Presentation of the book "The Fall of the Night Hawk"
In the Central Military Club, the book "The Fall of the Night Hawk" by Colonel Slaviša Golubović, published by Odbrana Media Centre, was presented. Promotion of the latest edition of our only military media house was attended by a large number of members of the heroic 250th AD Missile Brigade, including its former and current commanders, brigadier generals Dusko Zarkovic and Sava Milenković, respectively.
The guests were welcomed by Colonel Stevica Karapandžin, Director of the Media Centre, and then the book was spoken about by editor of the book Mirjana Sandić, Ljubodrag Stojadinović, MSc, a reviewer, and the author.
Pointing out that the book "The Fall of the Night Hawk," which is a testimony to the dramatic events from the time of defence against NATO aggression, just a month after its publication, aroused great interest of readers, Mirjana Sandić recommended that interesting quest for truth about the efficiency of the 3rd missile battalion of the 250th AD Missile Brigade,by evidence of patriotism, professionalism and efficiency of the unit, which is the only one in our armed forces that shot down two, and hit more aircraft of the Alliance.
One of the reviewers of the book "The Fall of The Night Hawk", Ljubodrag Stojadinović, MSc, described that very exciting "wartime, professional and historiographic" work from the pen of one of the members of the unit that downed the stealth and an actor of the events that "changed the world", as a proof that a unit intended to be inferior, can easily turn into a superb and very effective one by respecting certain principles and high moral and professional standards. The wartime testimony of Colonel Slaviša Golubović, his kind of war log has become such a reliable study of successful resistance to the superior aggressor, Ljubodrag Stojadinović concluded.Specific emotions led to the speech of the author himself who selflessly highlighted the contribution of all participants in the events described, not only as their protagonists in 1999, but later in memorizing and describing the dramatic events. All the members of the combat crews of the 3rd missile battalion testified in the book about the downing of the stealth first and then of the other F-16 aircraft of the Alliance. The algorithm of missions of the aircraft and its downing, including descriptions of the events that followed was presented. The book gives a brief interview with the downed pilot, most directly testifying about his disbelief in the possibility to be downed over Serbia. In the book, the author tried to answer the question how the rocket system of the second generation targeted and hit the most advanced fifth-generation aircraft.
