Presentation of the book "The latest report from Zagreb"
In the Great Hall of the Central Military Club, the book "The last report from the Zagreb" by author and publisher Ratko Miljanović was presented, in which he described rescuing of the JNA Army Military Technical School Center “Army-General Ivan Gosnjak" from blocked Zagreb barracks in Ilica and its deployment in the Belgrade area in December 1991.
The book was published on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of rescuing from the blockade in which, thanks only to precise, efficient and skilful command by, otherwise, a very risky operation of displacement, despite the everyday threats and blackmail of Croatian "Zenga", none of the members of the Centre perished.
The author, retired Colonel Petar Vidakovic and reviewers Major General Mladen Vuruna, Rector of the University of Defence, former alumnus of the Centre in Zagreb and Major General retired Božidar Forca, former tactics teacher in the Centre, spoke about the book, and those dramatic days, experienced from September to early December 1991, before a crowd of former members of the JNA Army military technical school centre.
Pointing out that the book, on almost 350 pages, with 150 photographs, diagrams and illustrations, presents in a plausible, dramatical and fictionalized way events that have marked the lives of the last defenders of the JNA Army military technical school centre "Army General Ivan Gošnjak", reviewers also noted that only ten per cent of its permanent members remained blocked, and they managed to defend the assets of that significant military school of higher education and to dislocate it to the capital of Serbia. The book is multi-layered, multi-dimensional and rich, not only in historical data, but also the emotions that give it a special charm.
