Defence Minister Zoran Djordjević with representatives of the Serbian Defence Trade Union



Defence Minister Zoran Djordjević met today with representatives of the Serbian Defence Trade Union who have sent a request for a meeting and asked for their proposal to amend the Regulation on working hours, holidays and leaves of absence for professional military personnel.
 
During the meeting, representatives of the Defence Trade Union, in addition to amendments to the proposal of the Regulation, introduced the minister also to other issues and demands faced by the members of the armed forces.
 
When it comes to the Regulation, trade union representatives pointed out that it is necessary to initiate the amendment of Article 22 of the Regulation on working hours, holidays and leaves of absence for professional military personnel to cover particularly difficult and unhealthy jobs defined by the Rulebook on jobs, job positions and assigned positions in the Serbian Armed Forces and the Ministry of Defence on which specific military service and service under difficult circumstances are performed. They also suggested that members of the armed forces be recognised the increased housing rates (BAH) if they are married to foreign nationals and linking years of service for civilians who had accelerated retirement for the period 2011- 2015, when it was not linked, and for which they feel that they are deprived of due to an administrative error.
 
The minister and his associates informed the representatives of the Serbian Defence Trade Union that the new Regulation is in the process of sending, that it is possible to harmonise it with the requirements and that such proposal will be addressed to the Government for approval, and that their other requirements will be considered and resolved in accordance with the capabilities, about which they will be notified.
 
Minister Zoran Djordjevic said that he has always been open to discussions with all trade unions who request to talk to him, in order to solve common problems and challenges that the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces are facing.
 
"I have always been for talks with trade unions aimed at improving the standard and conditions of military personnel in the realm of trade union activities", the minister pointed out.
