Minister of Defence extends greetings on the Veterans Day
I extend to all veterans my best wishes as they celebrate 4th December – the Veterans Day.
Continuing more than a century long tradition of ancient warriors of the Army of the Kingdom of Serbia, it has been the second year since the Veterans Day has been established as one of the military holidays in the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces, in memory of 4th December 1912, the great historical event for Serbia – the signing of the cease-fire in the First Balkan war.
In the history of warfare in our country, the veterans left the memory of many victories and gave an undoubted contribution to the entire Serbian history. Thanks to all the known and the unknown, those deserving respect, who gave their lives and many of those who remained disabled during the last war in our region, today we are living free.
With a deep-seated need to save from oblivion all those who made deeds to remember through the culture of remembrance of the stability of the Serbian people in the past wars and hard times for our people, I congratulate you on holiday, hoping that the sufferings of the past will never repeat, and the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces, to contribute to the preservation of peace in the country, the region and beyond.
