Development of strategic documents in the defence system
Defence Minister Zoran Djordjevic attended the first meeting of the Working Group for drafting the National Security Strategy, the Defence Strategy and the Defence White Paper.The Interministerial Working Group is composed of representatives of the Ministry of Defence, the General Secretariat of the President of the Republic, representatives of other relevant ministries, the Security and Information Agency and the European Integration Office.
Development of new strategic documents in the field of security and defence is one of the most important priorities in the implementation of the reform of the defence system of the Republic of Serbia in the forthcoming period. The Interministerial Working Group has a complex task to assess the challenges, risks and threats from the standpoint of the strategic environment of the Republic of Serbia, articulate the national interests, as well as to define the policies and systems of national security and defence.The key commitments in the development of new documents are comprehensive and integrated approach to security, military neutrality and commitment to joining the European Union.
The National Security Strategy and the Defence Strategy are to be adopted by the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, in accordance with the law, which will be preceded by expert and public debates.
