Minister Djordjevic meets Ambassador of the Russian Federation
Defence Minister Zoran Djordjevic spoke today with Russian Ambassador in Belgrade Alexander Chepurin.
Appreciation was expressed for Russia's support for our principled foreign policy priorities, noting that we lead autonomous and independent foreign policy, with the uncompromising application of the principle of military neutrality and balanced approach to the development of cooperation with all international partners, based on mutual respect and esteem.
During the cordial and open discussion, the interlocutors expressed satisfaction with the achieved continuity in the development of defence cooperation, which fully complies with the strategic partnership and the achieved level of general and political relations between the two countries.
This applies particularly to BARS 2016 and Slavic Brotherhood 2016 exercises which were successfully conducted during October and November this year, which have the undoubted contribution to strengthening the functional and operational capabilities of the Serbian Armed Forces.
It was pointed out that in the forthcoming period, other mutually acceptable forms of cooperation, with emphasis on the development of military-technical and military-educational cooperation will also be further intensified.
During the talks, other military and political issues of importance for the two sides were also discussed, which are primarily related to the problem of migrant crisis, and the fight against terrorism and other security challenges and threats.
