Annual Conference of the European Defence Agency
Acting Assistant Minister for Material Resources Nenad Miloradović represented the Republic of Serbia at the annual Conference of the European Defence Agency held today in Brussels.
The topic and content of the Conference, as well as its significance, were marked by a growing trend in establishing strategic framework for further improvement of defence cooperation among EU countries, that is the development and adoption of Global Strategy for Foreign and Security Policy, Action plan of European defence, EU Space Strategy and Preparatory actions to support research relevant for Common Security and Defence Policy.
Having the name “Industrial evolution or revolution in defence?”, this year Conference of the European Defence Agency aimed at gaining some insight into perspectives od European defence development and its relation towards innovative technologies.
The conference was opened by Executive Director of the European Defence Agency, Ambassador Jorge Domecq, whereas the introductory speech was reserved for Federica Mogherini, Head of the European Defence Agency, EU High Representative for Foreign and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission.
The annual Conference included two panels with the aim to look at possibilities and challenges related to the system of supply and demand in the field of production and the use of defence technologies. The first panel was attended by the representatives of industry whereas the second panel was attended by representatives of governments of participating countries, EU institutions and NATO.
On the sidelines of the Conference, Nenad Miloradović met with Executive Director of the European Defence Agency Ambassador Jorge Domecq. On that occasion, both sides expressed satisfaction with the cooperation so far, and Executive Director of the European Defence Agency thanked for the invitation to visit the Republic of Serbia on 20th December 2016. In addition to the meeting with Ambassador Domecq, Miloradović also had talks about contemporary processes of improvement of defence cooperation within EU, and further development of research in the field of defence and strengthening EU defence, technological and industrial basis.
