Deputy Chief of General Staff visits USA
Deputy Chief of General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Jovica Draganic, who heads the delegation of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces in the visit to the United States, met yesterday with Dr. Michael Carpenter Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense with responsibility for Russia, Ukraine, and Eurasia.
General Draganic briefed Dr. Carpenter about the achieved level of defence cooperation between Serbia and the United States and the vision for its improvement in the future. He thanked the US Government for their support and assistance so far and expressed hope that this support will continue. Carpenter congratulated General Draganic on ten years of very successful cooperation within the Ohio – Serbia State Partnership Programme and expressed his conviction that the US government will continue to support the further development of bilateral military cooperation.
On the occasion of the visit of Deputy Chief of General Staff, Ambassador, last night, at the Embassy of the Republic of Serbia in Washington, Djerdj Matkovic held a reception attended by senior military and civilian officials of the US administration. During the reception, General Draganic spoke with Hoyt Yee, US Deputy Assistant Secretary for European and Eurasian Affairs, about the current security situation and challenges in the Balkan region.
Deputy Chief of General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces will visit today the Pentagon and the National Defence University, after which our delegation travels to Ohio.
The delegation of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces stays on the return visit to the United States, from 25 to 30 October, to mark ten years of cooperation between Serbia and Ohio.
