Minister of Defence visits the 2nd Army Brigade
Defence Minister Zoran Djordjevic, accompanied by Major General Slavoljub Janicijevic, Deputy Commander of Joint Operations Command, Colonel Slobodan Stopa, Assistant Commander of the Army for Operations, and Colonel Zeljko Kuzmanovic, Acting Commander of the 2nd Army Brigade, have visited part of the units of the 2nd Army Brigade this evening.
During the visit to the 21st Infantry Battalion of the 2nd Army Brigade, in the Stefan Nemanja military barracks in Raska, Lieutenant Colonel Nikola Grkovic, Commander, presented to the Minister of Defence and his associates, the purpose, tasks, organizational structure and the achieved results by members of the unit during the participation in exercises at home and abroad and in multinational operations.
In the Rifat Burdzovic - Trso barracks in Novi Pazar, Commander of the 28th Mechanized Battalion, Major Aleksandar Zdravkovic, informed the Minister of Defence about the area of responsibility of his unit, its deployment and main tasks in the forthcoming period.
- I am here to make sure that units of the 2nd Army Brigade accomplish their tasks, to see the living and working conditions, problems and challenges. I am pleased with what I saw, and in the forthcoming period, the Ministry of Defence, together with the Serbian Government, will take a series of steps for modernization, equipping and manning of the Serbian Armed Forces, as well as improving the standard of MoD and SAF members. The new model of six-month voluntary military service, which will be implemented as of December this year, will be the base for admission of a significant number of soldiers to the professional military service, Djordjevic said after the tour.
During the visit of 51st Ski training range "Kopaonik", Major General Goran Zekovic, Commandant of the Military Academy, presented to the minister of defence the capabilities, but also problems in using that range on which the training is conducted and offer well-being and tourism services to MoD and SAF members.
Looking at the current situation and planned measures that the Ministry of Defence will take measures to improve conditions at the training range, the defence minister announced better days for 51st Ski training range with a view to have hundred percent used available tourist facilities of that institution, besides improving conditions for conducting training of the Serbian Armed Forces members.
