Minister of Defence meets representatives of the Army in Nis



Састанак министра одбране са представницима Копнене војске у НишуWithin the activities of the Government of the Republic of Serbia in Nis, Minister of Defence Zoran Djordjevic met today with representatives of the Army. The meeting was attended by Chief of General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces, General Ljubisa Dikovic, and Army Commander Lieutenant General Milosav Simovic and his associates.
 
On this occasion, the Defence Minister informed the members of the Army Command on the plans for the defence system development in the forthcoming period and stressed that the new concept of six-month military service with arms will improve the training system and strengthen the reserve element of the Serbian Armed Forces.
 
- Priority of the defence system in the forthcoming period is equipping of the units of the Serbian Armed Forces and admission of people to professional military service – Minister Djordjevic said during the talks.
 
The security situation in Serbia is stable, the Chief of the Serbian Armed Forces assessed and underlined that the Serbian Armed Forces is constantly monitoring the situation in the Ground Safety Zone, as well as the current situation with migrants at the border with Serbia and Macedonia.
 
During today's meeting, Army Commander General Simovic presented to the Minister of Defence main tasks of the Army, engagement of members of the Army on protecting the borders with the Republic of Bulgaria and Macedonia, the execution of tasks in the Ground Safety Zone and the implementation of planned activities related to the staying of the Government of the Republic of Serbia in the Nis garrison.
